As Director of NGS and R&D, Detlef Boehm, PhD, is overall responsible for the Next-Generation-Sequencing (NGS) facility of CeGaT GmbH. At the same time he responsible for R&D. Detlef Boehm has longstanding experience in human molecular genetics research and diagnostics. He was Head of Laboratory in different genetic institutions in Göttingen and Freiburg, Germany, where he established and automated new methods published in high impact journals. Examples are the clinical use of quantitative high throughput-PCR to detect deletions (Boehm et al., 2004) and his pioneering work to establish Oligo-Array-CGH in everyday practice. Besides Detlef Boehm was instrumental in identifying the underlying genetic cause of the STAR-Syndrome (Nature Genetics, 2008).
